Rod & Gun Club hosts Best Deer Rack Contest 2012

The JB MDL Rod and Gun Club at Range 14 is hosting the 2012 Best Deer Rack Contest. There are three methods of hunting: Bow (in Winter 2011 and Fall 2012), Black Powder/Muzzle Loader (Jan, Nov and Dec portions of 2011), Shotgun (regular season and special either sex days 2012). Any deer killed in 2012 must be entered in the 2012 season.

The contest is open to all JB MDL Rod and Gun Club members in good standing with a current activity card and Contest Eligibility Card when purchased simultaneously with a hunting permit. All deer must be harvested on JB MDL legally, as prescribed by current NJ hunting regulations. All deer harvests must be reported immediately to Range 14. The deer must be taken, intact to Range 14, within 24 hours of the harvest to have the deer registered and antlers tagged with a JB MDL Rod and Gun Club antler tag. It is the hunter’s responsibility to request and obtain, from Outdoor Recreation, a copy of the completed registration form. Any tagged antlers which have been tampered or with the tag removed will automatically be disqualified. No antlers will be scored or considered for the contest if the individual has failed to complete the registration process at Range 14. Antlers must have hair and flesh removed before they will be scored. In case of ties, a coin toss will determine the winner. The best overall rack for 2012 will receive money towards a mount. Additional prizes in the form of Gift Cards will be awarded. The number and value of the prizes for each category will depend on the number of participants purchasing a Contest Eligibility Card.
