Quilts for Kids from 11:00am – 3:00pm; Come join us to make quilts for kids in long term healthcare, safe houses, children of deployed Soldiers and for our Wounded Warriors. We will teach you everything you need to know for these simple but beautiful quilts using fabulous designer fabrics from showrooms and design houses around the world as well as our own stash. Gifting a quilt is like giving a hug. Bring your lunch and stay all day; no cost

Portrait Photography – Classes are held Saturdays from 12:00pm – 3:00pm from June 8th-29th – Cost is $60 per student; This 4 week course is designed to show you how to achieve stunning images that look like they should be in a magazine! We will cover available light shooting, reflectors, and techniques to get great portraits outdoors anytime day or night, studio techniques, and most importantly, we show you how to get your flash off camera to open up limitless possibilities. This course is designed for intermediate to advanced photographers. Students must have a DSLR camera with a lens between the ranges of 24-120mm

Thursday June 13th
Adult Drawing Class: Learn to sketch at the 87FSS Arts & Crafts Center in this beginners’ art class. The course will cover the exploitation of various drawing media, such as: pencil, charcoal, chalk and oil pastels. June 13 – July 25 2013 (6-week) – Thursdays 6:00 – 8:30pm. $45.00 (No Class July 4Th.)

Wednesday June 19th
Creative Photo Boot Camp – Wednesday June 19th from 5:30 – 7:30pm; Cost is 25; See in a new way in this 2 hour photo boot-camp! Students will learn how to create interesting images with selective focus by using the Lensbaby lenses provided in class. Students must have a Canon or Nikon DSLR camera to participate in this class.

1 JUNE thru 31 AUGUST

The golf course has set aside Sunday afternoons at 3:00pm for “Family Time Golf”. This program allows parents to bring out their children who want to participate and learn to play the game (sport). The parents will golf at a reduced rate while children will golf for FREE

Begins 10 July and will be held every Wednesday through 14 August.

Starting May 28th, the pool will open for 2013 season and resume normal hours of operation:

Lap Swim Mon – Fri 5:30am – 8:00am / 11:00am – 1:00pm
Recreation Swim 1:00pm – 6:00pm.

The pool offers lap swimming, private pool party rental, and swim lessons.

June 3rd thru August 5th

A free program, open to all DoD ID holders, presented by 87FSS Fitness at Griffith Field House, BLDG 6053, 8th St. & Millville Rd. Participants perform a variety of strength training activities, either participating in any toning group fitness class or perform weight training on their own. Participants receive a punch card during registration for instructors or front desk staff to punch after completing a workout. The participant with the most punches wins! Orientation includes a narrated bus tour of FSS activities conducted by Public Affairs Office.  Newly arrived spouses are invited to attend this orientation to learn about programs and services offered at JB MDL, to become familiar with their new community and to make new friends.  Lunch will be provided courtesy of USO.

Join us on the fishing boat, Miss Belmar, for a Father’s Day full of fishing for Atlantic Flounder. These trips are a favorite for both avid fisherman and the first timer. Price includes transportation, pole and bait, and admission aboard. No fishing license required. Participation limit is only 28 so sign-up now before the June 12th deadline. Only $35 for RecOn participants (active duty and reserve personnel), only $60 per other DoD ID holder.
