With a focus on fitness and wellness, the 87FSS Fitness Center at JB MDL McGuire serves the joint base community with a variety of programs and fitness activities in a state-of-the-art facility. The 87FSS Fitness Center at JB MDL McGuire offers a wide selection of weight training to include 99 various free weight Nautilus machines, many cardiovascular exercise machines, two gymnasiums, three racquetball courts and men’s and women’s locker rooms with steam rooms, saunas, showers and daily use lockers.

The Griffith Field House provides a full range of sports and fitness equipment and programs for the JB MDL community.  Fitness classes are offered along with runs, aerobics marathons, fitness challenges as well as a comprehensive intramural and varsity sports program.  Our qualified fitness staff is always available for questions and assistance with using the fitness equipment and making the most of your workout.  Check out our Spin, Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, Cardio Kick Boxing classes for fun and fitness.

Doughboy Gym is Mission Driven. Call for Hours of Operation. Doughboy Gym is a 55-thousand square foot building that houses a physical rehabilitation center for the Warriors in Transition. The facility has various free-weight/strength machines, as well as a plethora of cardiovascular equipment. It also has two racquetball courts and a full basketball court. There are men’s and women’s locker rooms with shower and daily-use lockers. The gym is also open to the joint base community on request.

The 87FSS Fitness Center at JB MDL Lakehurst provides a wide variety of fitness facilities and equipment for all patrons’ needs. The 3,400 square-foot weight room features controlled weights and extensive free weight area, cardio room with up-to-date treadmills, elliptical, stair steppers and bikes with remote headphones and satellite TVs. The 87FSS Fitness Center at JB MDL Lakehurst also offers an aerobics room, two racquetball courts, college level basketball court dividable into three sections for volleyball courts. Towel services, showers and locker rooms are also available.

87FSS Fitness Center Reservation Procedure

The hours of reservation for the 87FSS Fitness Center/McGuire are 6am-5pm Mon-Fri. Any unit wishing to reserve a room for recurring unit PT sessions must have their UFPM attend the semi-annual lottery, held October/April of each year. During other operating hours, the rooms can be used on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call 609.754.6085, or ask any staff member for details.

Dress Code for JB MDL Fitness Facilities

All personnel utilizing a JB MDL Fitness Facilities will comply with the guidelines set forth in the dress code. In addition to maintaining good order and discipline, this guidance will help ensure the health and welfare of all patrons.  Please see the attachment for the Fitness Dress Code for JB MDL.

USCG Health Promotion Program’s Physical Fitness

To ensure a fit, ready for duty workforce, the Health Promotion Program’s Physical Fitness component is intended to assist personnel with assessing their current fitness status and design an exercise program to enhance or maintain their current level of fitness.  The Program can assist commands with developing a unit fitness instruction to encourage participation in regular physical training required by Commandant Policy. The Health Promotion Program also provides oversight and subject matter expertise in the development of Coast Guard wide fitness standards required to qualify for assignment to certain units.
