Presented by 87FSS, open to general public and all DoD ID holders. This inaugural run includes a Half Marathon (13.1 miles) and full Marathon (26.2 miles), with a 5K (3.1 miles) and one mile fun run on Saturday, 22 October 2016.

Full Marathon starts on the West side of Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst and ends on the East side! But if you don’t make it to Route 539 by 1pm, you don’t get to finish and you’ll be bussed to the finish line at JB MDL Lakehurst – hence the name “Beat 539”.

You must be at least 18 years of age by October 22, 2016 to participate in the marathon; At least 13 years old by October 22,2016 to participate in the Half Marathon. There is no age requirement for the 5k and 1 Mile portion.

Included with the run is live music, MC/Announcer, Spectator Zones, food and beverage and more! The marathon is USATF certified, a Boston Marathon Qualifier. All events rain or shine.

The entire day begins at JB MDL Lakehurst with a wheelchair race at 7:55am, Full Marathon starts at 8am on the Flight Line at JB MDL McGuire, running across the installation back to JB MDL Lakehurst; Half Marathon also starts at 8am but at JB MDL Lakehurst, joining the Full Marathon course near their mile 19 (the Half Marathon’s 6.9 mile mark). The 1 Mile Fun Run starts at 8:15am and the 5k at 8:30am, both at JB MDL Lakehurst.  All participants park at JB MDL Lakehurst (follow parking signs); Full Marathoners bussed to JB MDL McGuire.

Packets can be picked up at the Army National Guard, 1 Pinehurst Road, Manchester, NJ 08759 on Wednesday, 19 October 2016, Thursday, 20 October 2016 and Friday, 21 October 2016, from 3 to 7pm.

KNOW THE RULES FOR BEING ON BASE before the race!

THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY TO ALL ATHLETES, SPECTATORS, AND VOLUNTEERS:

NO GoPros or cameras permitted on the course

Spectators may accompany any participants as long as they are in the same point-of-contact as a registered runner. All spectators must have valid form of ID to enter the gate. Spectators information must be sent as requested in the registration process.

* All Backpacks, duffle bags, drawstring bags or similar non-translucent bags will NOT be permitted to enter the start venue areas.

* Athletes will be provided with one race-issued clear plastic bag. All equipment must be placed within the race-issued bag in order to enter the start venue area race morning. If you arrive at the entrance to Lakehurst with a bag other than official race issued clear plastic bag.

You have two choices:

1.     Return to your vehicle and leave your bag there.

2.     Transfer all of your items into a race-issued clear plastic bag before being permitted to enter the venue.

·        Note: Fanny packs, hydration belts, water bottles and/or small hydration-only packs will be allowed but are subject to search at anytime.  

There will be NO bags permitted to enter the finish venue for both athletes and spectators. This includes the race-Issued clear plastic bags, purses, backpacks, diaper bags, etc.

       Post-race, athletes will be able to retrieve their clear, plastic gear bag from the (Marathon Only will have Gear Check) Gear Check area. However, for security reasons, these bags will NOT be permitted within the festival area. Athletes will be able to retrieve what they need from their bags and there will be changing tents available for athletes to change their clothes. Anyone leaving the Gear Check area with their plastic bag will be directed to the venue exit.

       Spectators must leave all bags in their vehicles. There will be police security checkpoints all entrances to the finish Festival. Any spectator who has a bag will be asked to bring it back to their vehicle before they are permitted to enter the venue.

Age Group awards are mailed to race placers except overall first, second, and third civilian and military Half and Full, which will be announced following the race.

 

All awards for the 5K will be given following the race.
