Offering a complete pottery studio and paint-your-own ceramics and mosaic studio! Our staff is experienced, qualified, and always on hand to help in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Pottery Studio

Offering classes covering hand building and wheel throwing techniques. Glazes and firing provided. Adult pottery classes are 6 weeks long and held on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:30pm. Open to beginners and intermediate. Pre-registration required.

Kids pottery classes for ages 6 thru 12 are four weeks long and held on Saturday mornings from 10:30am to 12:00pm. Special classes can be arranged for Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Paint Your Own Ceramics and Mosaic Studio

Our studio offers a large selection of ceramic bisque items to choose from to decorate with glaze. All pieces are food and dishwasher safe when finished. Mosaics offer a great way to express yourself with colorful glass. We supply all the shapes, tiles, glue and grout to complete your project. Group functions and parties can be arranged to paint ceramics or do mosaics.

Learn a variety of artistic skills & techniques through our multi-crafts classes and workshops. Our highly qualified instructors offer courses to both children and adults in a fun, friendly and encouraging environment. Many materials are available to provide students the finest learning experience possible.

Studio Use

Enjoy open studio time and use of equipment for a nominal fee during our regular business hours. Accu-Cut, Sewing, Drawing/Painting, and Create a Critter are offered.

Class Registration Information

Advanced registration is required for all classes via phone or in person. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Students are informed of supply needs at the time of registration or during the first class meeting. Classes are open to all DoD ID holders and their accompanied guests. Classes fill quickly, register early, call 609.562.5691.

Class Cancelation/Refund Information

Class fees are refunded in the event of a class cancellation due to lack of enrollment or other reasons. Students may cancel a class reservation in person or by phone. Participants have 30 days to obtain refunds after notification of a cancellation, with a receipt. Arts & Crafts will honor previous payment for a rescheduled or future classes held in lieu of a refund.

Have your child’s next birthday party at 87FSS’s Peter L. Hunt Arts & Crafts Center. Enjoy two hours of party room use and one enjoyable craft project, including all materials! Spring Art Show

Entry open to all DoD ID holders age 10 and up. 

Entries must be brought to the Center no later than April 1.

Categories include Photography, Ceramic, Sculpture, Jewelry, Mixed Media, Painting, Printing, and Color Pencil. One entry per person.

Free Firing Fee Fridays!

Every first Friday of the month we are waiving all firing fees for the Arts & Crafts Center’s Paint Your Own Ceramics. You only pay for the item that you wish to paint! This deal only applies to items purchased from the Arts & Crafts Center’s stock of prepared ceramics and only on the first Friday of the month. No rainchecks.

Coffee and Canvas
Coffee & Canvas

Start the weekend by painting with us! Each session we will guide you on a painting adventure! No skills required. Just a cup of coffee, tea or your favorite morning beverage. You will leave each session with a painting done, from start to finish by you! This is a fun class and a great way to squeeze in some creativity.

Cost: $15 each class. Materials Provided.

Time: 10:30am-12:30pm

Drawing Class

Help you build your drawing skills. All levels welcome, beginner and intermediate focused. You will learn how to draw what you see using pencil and or charcoal. We will discuss our materials, what they are and why that matters; as well as drawing skills: sight-size, proportions, shading/rendering, among other art principles and elements. Drawing is the foundational skill to all your artistic endeavors. This class has homework!

Little Picassos (Ages 3-5)

You heard that right; bring your little one to explore creativity and have a little fun! We do something new at every class while fostering creative exploration with a variety of materials. Registration required; payment due at registration.

Bare Bones Mosaics!

You will be instructed on how to create a basic mosaic on your choice of substrate available at the arts and crafts center. The first class we will go over the design and the second class is grouting and sealing.

Ages: 13+
Cost: $20 + the price of substrate.

Mosaics

Not Just Paint Nights!

No art skills required! Come and join us for some fun painting and making. This makes a great date night! You will leave each class with a new creation. We will explore something new each class; Chalk pastels, Oil Pastels, Acrylic Painting, nail and string art, pour painting, watercolor, Huichol Style Yarn Painting. 

Cost: $25 per class date. Materials Provided. 

Register by the Tuesday prior to the class date.

Kids Drawing Class (Ages 6 & up)

We will learn to draw using simple shapes! Drawing is a foundational skill of all arts. It is a great skill to have as your child progresses on their creative path.

Ages: 6 & up. Cost: $30.

Photography Class

Out of auto mode and find out what all those other buttons actually do! Our instructor will teach you how to use your DSLR camera. Learn about shutter speed, aperture, manual mode, focus and so much more! A minimum of 4 students per class for class to be held. Pre-registration required.

Adult Beginner Sewing (ages 18 & up)

Learn all about the sewing machine and all supplies/tools used. This class gives you a great beginner foundation, designed to cover all the sewing basics. You will easily gain more confidence, speed and skills. Students may bring their sewing machine but it’s not required. Some materials are provided. Please stop by 87FSS Arts & Crafts Center for a materials list.

Cost: $60 for 4 weeks course; $45 for 3 weeks course

Acrylic Cloud-Scape Workshop

Join the FSS Arts & Crafts Center for an exciting painting workshop. Learn the art of CLOUDSCAPES! We will be painting on stretched canvases with Acrylic Paints.

This class is 3 hours long, come prepared with your choice of snacks and beverages. We are offering 2 opportunities to take this class. One daytime and one evening.

Cost: $50, supplies are included.

Homeschool art Program (Revamped)

ATTENTION HOMESCHOOLERS: Our homeschooling program has been revamped after running some trials. Thank you for bearing with us while we made these adjustments. We think you’ll love the new scheduling!

The new program will run 3 weeks at a time AND you have the option to choose Pottery or 2D Arts (sometimes 3D). You can choose both if your scheduling allows!

Cost: $40 per session, $5 discount for siblings.

Plant & Craft
Grown Where You're Planted!

Add a little green to that winter wonderland! In this class we will make a planter and you will leave with a plant and craft of your own!

- Plant & Craft: Saturday, January 25, 1:00pm-3:00pm (Register by January 14). Cost: $25, Materials Provided.

- Propagation Swap: Plant lovers unite! We are hosting a cutting/propagation swap for all of our green-thumbed patrons! Bring a plant and or some cuttings to trade! 

Saturday, February 29, 10:30am-11:30am (Register by February 25). Cost: $5 rooting hormone and soil.

- Plant & Mosaic: A colorful way to bring in Spring! In this class we will make a mosaic planter. After the 2 class dates you will leave with a beautiful plant and mosaic piece. 

Saturdays, March 7 & 14, 1:00pm-3:00pm (Register by March 3). Cost: $55, Materials provided.

- Start Your Seeds: Want to try your thumb at container gardening? Want to grow your own veggies and flowers this year? The race is on! We will help you learn how to start those seedlings. You will leave with seeds ready to start growing with your care and attention. 

Saturday, March 21, 1:00pm-3:00pm (Register by March 14). Cost: $15.

Beginners Watercolor Painting Class

This class will cover; color theory, color mixing, application and brush strokes, techniques, methods and composition. 

Cost: $55, materials included.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: February 25 for Session 1, March 24 for Session 2.

Watercolor Painting

Framing Qualification Class

Get qualified to use this great facility and equipment! You will complete one piece as you learn to operate the equipment. You are required to bring something in to frame such as an 8x10 photo or certificate. All materials are available at the frame shop which will be purchased at the end of class.

Cost: $25 plus materials.

Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Kids Pottery Class
(Ages 6-12)

Classes cover hand-building; pinching, coiling, slab building among other hand building techniques. Students will be shown basic techniques that will lead to their own creative solutions. Clay glazes and firings are provided.

Registration required; payment due at registration.

Open to ages 6-12.

Cost: $45 for 4 weeks class; $35 for 3 weeks class.

Kids Beginner Sewing (Ages 10 & up)

This class is “SEW” fun! Kids will learn the sewing machine basics and improve fine motor skills. Students will gain more confidence by the end of the session.

Students must have up-to-date tetanus shot.

Kids Painting Class (Ages 6 & up)

We will learn to paint with acrylic paints including basic color theory, blocking in colors and how to prepare and finish a canvas. Kids will leave with a completed work of art that they can be proud to hang on their wall!

- Saturdays, February 1 & 8 (2 weeks): Cost $25.

- Saturdays, April 4 & 11 (2 weeks): Cost $30; Register by March 31.

The class will focus on beginning wheel throwing techniques, basic hand-building skills such as pinching, coiling and slab construction. Glazes and firing are provided. Open to beginners through intermediate.

Crochet 101 - Evening Classes

Learn the basics of crochet! We will start with a simple project to teach you the basics of crochet. You will need a variety pack of crochet hooks and your choices of 4-ply or worsted weight yarn. This class has homework!

Cost: $45 per 4-week session. If registering for both sessions, ask about our discount!

Baby Prints and Finger Painting

We will be doing some hand printing artwork for our tiniest of treasures! Bring your little one to explore painting on canvas with washable paint. We are offering the option of putting your baby’s hand and/or foot prints on ceramic plates or on a canvas panel. 

Saturday, February 22, 1:00pm-3:00pm. All ages welcome.

Option A Cost: $10 for finger painting or hand-prints on canvas.

Option B Cost: $20 hand-prints on ceramic plate. Prices include supplies and firing fees.
